SUNET - the national Research and Education network of Sweden and NORDUnet - the pan-Nordic R&E network, continue to demonstrate their leadership among R&E networks in Europe. Since the beginning of 2007, the two networks have been running various trials and production services with 40 Gbit/s, and are now taking another step to gain experience with high speed long haul IP connections by participating in test of first ever native 40 Gbit/sec transatlantic IP link; 9600 km between Luleå, Sweden and New York.

The 25th NORDUnet Conference will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark
The conference will take place from Wednesday 16 September 2009 to Friday 18 September 2009.
The NORDUnet conference will contain several tracks including NDGF.
Presentations given by NORDUnet staff and essential presentation that NORDUnet staff ensounters is available at the NORDUnet Public Presentation Library.
NORDUnet host a high level technical DCN workshop on January 21st and 22nd 2009.
This 2-day workshop provides attendees with a working knowledge of how to design and deploy a dynamic circuit network. This workshop uses the control plane software currently in service on the Internet2 Dynamic Circuit Network (DCN) and numerous other regional and national R&E networks. This software includes the "DICE" developed Inter-Domain Controller (IDC), the DRAGON (Dynamic Resource Allocation via GMPLS Optical Networks) GMPLS-based software and the OSCARS (On-Demand Secure Circuits and Advance Reservation System) webservice-based software. These are packaged together and made available as the DCN Software Suite.
The workshop provides an overview of GMPLS architecture, RSVP and OSPF protocols, control plane design concepts, and specifics of dynamic circuit network engineering as relates to campus, regional, and national network facilities in the R&E community.
Upon completion of this workshop, attendees will be better prepared to design and deploy a dynamic hybrid network.
